Sigma Chi began on June 28th, 1855 in at the Miami University in Ohio. Today, Sigma Chi has over 240 international chapters; making us one of the largest Greek originations in the world. Since 1992, Sigma Chi has raised over 3 million dollars for Children’s Miracle Network.  The main philanthropy organization for Sigma Chi is the Huntsman Cancer Institute, which was founded by brother John Huntsman Senior.  Sigma Chi has pledged over $10 million for cancer research by 2022. During the Spring of 2017, our Philanthropy Week called Derby Days has raised over $16,000 toward the Huntsman Cancer Institute. Our chapter believes in making a bigger impact in our community beyond just ourselves, and it all starts with our participation in not only our own philanthropy, but those of other fraternities and sororities as well.

Sigma Chi’s Kappa Beta Chapter was established on October 12th, 1991 at the University of North Florida, making us the oldest fraternity on campus. Sigma Chi has won the most Chapter of the Year awards on UNF’s campus. Kappa Beta won the Gold Peterson Chapter award in 2017-2018 which is awarded to the top six international chapters of Sigma Chi. In the fall of 2017, Sigma Chi won three sorority philanthropy weeks, making us one of the most philanthropic organizations on campus.  In addition to that, the UNF chapter of Sigma Chi has successfully won other achievements on campus such as Zeta Tau Alpha’s 2018 King of the Field and has teamed up with other organizations to help promote campus events, such as Best Buddies. This past year, Sigma Chi won the Greek Awards for Integrity, Leadership, and Continual Improvement. In the Spring of 2018, Sigma Chi had community service events including dog walking for the Humane Society, soup kitchens, beach clean ups with other campus sororities, and Volunteering for TPC. Sigma Chi was also the leader among IFC for GPA both Spring 2017 and Fall 2017.
